I have a single manifold sitting here (thanks hams and pete) and I'm debating to go single....

Basically, my goal is 500WHP on 20 PSI on 94. While at full boost at 4000-4500. :ugh2:

Now my current twin setup will do 500 on pump but it's more laggy then I want. No understand I'm not a big lag person, the SP63 on my 7m was really too much lag for me.

I've been toying with the idea of making my setup a sequental setup, which should cost maybe another 1000 or so on top of what I have. (my friend has a big sequential setup on his mk4)

The other option is of course to go single. I was thinking GT35R, GT40R, GT4082, or PT61 or PT67 with an O trim.

Problems is,

Don't think GT35R can make 500 at 20 PSI
Think GT40 series will be too laggy for my liking but will do what I want
Think PT61 will be just shy of what I want at 20 PSI
Thinking 67 will still be too laggy and the O trim, i'm not even sure how that would spool.

What do you guys think?

GT35R would need more boost

There was a GT40'ed 1JZ that did [email protected] and [email protected] according to rudy @ manic tech racing. That was with a .68 rear, just like mine.

The GT4082 is an awesome turbo, and I don't think you can do any better than that for 500rwhp on pump 94.

g'luck eric. I'm running the GT40 with goals of only 500rwhp. Remember, this is my daily driver.

Im running a GT4088 on my DD 1JZ car. I'm hoping to make 500whp on 93, and 700 on race. Lag is no issue with the auto tranny.

61 will do 500 on 20 psi.. there are a few mkivs doing 500 or right there (480+) on 18 psi..

This weekend (when i get my wideband back) I'll turn up my car to 16 psi and see how it spools.. Im expecting 4500-4600..

Im not sure how much loot your looking to spend buy maybe a 67dbb? spool 300-400 rpm faster then mine and make the same power..

im in the same perdicement zazzn, im looking mostly at the gt4082, gt40 blowzilla that pete (pm-performance) is running, and a sp61HO. I want arond 500 on pump as well with good response.

You have twin k26's right? What do they spool up at with your cams? I have a friend thats using a pt67 ball bearing on his turbo-R and he's happy with it. It spools at around 4100. And is at least 500 hp capeable.

The sp63 an hks cams in my bros car is not laggy at all, should do over 500hp at 20psi, well yet you know when we get to the dyno

oh yeah.... LOL I forgot about the cams...

I think that the GT35 can put you there with the cams we're all getting eric. 20psi on a GT35 should get you just about 500rwhp with cams. I'm guessing that my GT40 will put me @500rwhp with no problems on pump with some cams.

gt35R is the same as the sp61 which has gone 500.. Im not sure on the exhaust side though.. I would assume its nearly the same size if not better then the P trim in the SP61/pt61.. Im not sure if the Gt35R has a t4 option?? but would be a nice turbo.. prolly spool mid-late 3k

I know Precision is supposed to release a BB version of their PT series turbos pretty soon. I would think a PT-61 in this configuration, would meet your needs perfectly ...


And Yes, tissimo, the GT35R can come with a T04 turbine housing option, just have to find someone that sells it with that option, not everyone does.

67DBB will not spool faster then your 61 there was a guy that did a BB vs non BB test of a 67 there wasn't a HUGE diffrence 250 RPM at most.
Also the 61 spools much faster then a 67..

I don't think a 61 will do 500 at 20 PSI. Mk4 guys have .5 more displacement and PM performance just proved it takes mid to high 20's to get 500 to the wheels on a 67.

I think if you add a .84 housing and 20 PSI we would be about 460-470 WHP but still wouldn't spool as fast as I wanted.

NYC - you have an auto thats a whole diffrent story.

PM's turbo isn't exactly very fast to spool 4500 to hit the threshold is not something I want.

Tiwo2.0 - when I'm talking about spooling i'm not talking about getting 1-15 psi i'm talking about the turbo treshold meaning i jab the gas and all of a sudden instant boost. My K26's hit hard at 5000 on the stock cams, and now take till about 5400-5600 to hit really hard. Although they will make serious power (maseo 9.x @ 134) I want more response and less top end.

Toyosup85 - the Sp63 on my 7m with .58 housing was border line too laggy for me because the 7m only revs to 6500. If I have the same spool on the 1jz as the 7m I can live with that because of the extra RPM I rev out to 7800-8000

Tissmo - I have yet to see a 61 do what I want

All these people running the turbos i'm thinking about but not a single sole has turned up the boost? what the FUQ are you waiting for?!!

Ill turn up the GT4088 in about a month maybe.. i have a few spare transmissions :)

Are you auto if so I don't care about the results as they won't be anywhere near the same as a 5spd :(

Why not turn it up now? what are you needing?

I have a friends gt4082 sitting here I could test, but I don't want to remake some intercooler pipes and parts of a exhaust just for testing :(

Im waiting for someone to figure out my SSV4 and get it installed so i can install everything else :gaysex:

I have a 67.. Pm-performance has a 61.. haha

Im just waiting for some dyno time (actually waiting to get my wideband back from a friend to check a/f up to 18 psi..) do a base tune then hit the dyno and tune it out..

Pm did 450 at 22 psi with his 61? with cams and some better tunning i think 450-480 is possible on 20 psi.. maybe more.. PM only reved out to 6500 (iirc) too.. im sure there might of been a little more in it if he could rev it more..

it depends what you mean instance boost.. i can hit it anywere north of 4500 and have boost fast.. but it isn't instant (thinking stock ct)

i have a GT40-82 and the lag is very minimal :) i absolutly love it!!!

every1 who has riden in my car has been like HOLY SHIT that big ass turbo spools that fast!!! damn!!! lol

anyways u get the point :) test your buddys gt40 :)

What MM compressor wheel is a GT4082? Mine 4088 is 77mm compressor, its HUGGE
