custom. find a shop to make you the flange, then have some place bend the piping for you. thats what i'm gonna do. already found the shop and my turbo is not being used since i'm in the middle of rebuilding an engine for a na>t conversion. just have to do other things first.

I've seen a million of these threads and I always so go for the becauseican because it is the cheapest and the best. Built for the mk3 by an mk3 owner.

divorced downpipes are not all the are made up to be. Can you say boost creep? Anyway, the only reason that they make more than ~5 hp more is because it automatically cranks up the boost. Crank up the boost on a standard turboback dp with an MBC and get the same effect, without paying out your ass and having a ridiculously loud car at full boost.

think i am going to go BIC, does a divorced downpipe put added stress on the stock turbo, or does it just let it exhale better and ultimatly let it run and perform better? any ideas would be great.

Mullenc525- You are wrong. I dyno tested both of my down pipes on the same car with in 20 minuites of each other. The BIC dp with the 3" elbow and 3" exhaust without cats, made 255 rwhp and 267 tq at 10 psi. Just by changing to the ddp it made 283 rwhp and 285 tq at 11psi. Thats a 28 rwhp gain !!!. Yes the boost did go up 1 psi, no boost controller was used. So you could even knock off 10 rwhp due to the boost gain, but thats still a 18rwhp gain. Do you know how much money a Honda guy would have to spend on his car to get an honest 18 -28 rwhp gain, $1000+.

The ddp just allows alot more exhaust flow to get out of the engine quicker, which makes more boost. It basicly has the flow area of a single 4" pipe.

I will try to dig up a dyno sheet with the comparison. Click on the link. The red is the regular 3" dp with integrated elbow, the blue line is the ddp.

sounds like a guy thats never owned one before.

iw ill admit it makes boost creep...i solved that problem in 20 minutes.

took the dp off, bored the wastegate tube a lil more and now im hitting 15psi@2800rpm

normal driving alone im hitting 6psi shifting at 3k, half ass throttle.

in this downpipe, the entire rpm range is ALOT more responsive.

soooo..I shouldn't get a bic ddp because I have an n/a block or should I not worry that much about the amount of boost creep??

naw, get a DDP...it has nothing to do with the block :p

the boost creep isnt as bad as people make it out to be. If it is a problem..simply bor out a little off of wastegate exit pipe on the DDP and possibly on the wastegate port if need be.

from what i know, tehre has been only a couple of people with the boost creep issue out of alot of people that have owned the DDP. I got boost creep because A.) I ported my wastegate port and forgot to compensate the new size for the wastegate exit pipe on the ddp B) my turbo is ported and polished and C) my exhaust manifold is ported and polished.

i bored out a lil on the exit pipe and problem solved.

I would be really interested in knowing how well a re-routed (back in) divorced downpipe works. Larry A was correct, when he mentioned the legal aspects of having the regular DDP in California. Any idea.?
move to Tx or FL :D

its possible to talk to randy (becauseican) to see if he can make one that route back in for you worried Californians.
