there's been so much hype about the t78 being the best all round turbo. For you guys who have tried and tested the t04r, which of the two turbos do you reckon tops the other in terms of streetability.

well i have seen the to4 in action ..its a beast but you will need fuel !

greedy =best bang for the buck i belive you can get 650 + hp with fuel and fmic

hks to4=more money but better quality items i belive you can get 650 rwhp if you use race fuel i have read!

if your looking to get the to4 then look at the
phstage 2
click here for phstage 2 vs hks to4
or sound performance sp63

if your looking to spend over 5500 bucks ill go with the sp kit its complet (unlike the ph kit)!

this is what i think!

I'm pretty sure the PH kits comes with everything you need. If I had to start all over again, I would take the stage 2 kits Mainly because the wastegate comes vented to atmospere and uses the HKS manifold.
RANGER...what do you mean PHR's kit is incomplete? What items are needed that is missing? I just bought a PHR Stage 2+ from Dusty and I could of swore he said it is complete. I will definately be calling him in the morning!
The PHR kit IS complete. It outspools the t78 and the to4r but makes similar power.

not sure what part was missing but my friend kit was incomplet ..he had to call jarett and ask for the part jarett told him it was not part of the package but jearett did send it to him but again forgot what part it was ill ask later today what the part was !

note sure if it was the bov or what part but ill ask!

also he did not like the wastegate to vented atmospere ..he said it was anoying !
but thats more a preference !
The WG venting to the atmosphere is good for about 25 rwhp or so. I'll take the sound for the gain anyday...

I'll take the sound with zero gain! :D
LOL, I agree man, I like the sound... The 25-30 rwhp doesn't hurt either...

I agree too. That is one of the greatest sounds to ever come from a turbo, just like a BOV. Not trying to sound like a riceboy but it really sets the car apart from the sounds of other cars.

Aint nothing rice about a loud ass wastegate dumping into the air:)

taking the package and havin them send it over to the east is gonna cost me an arm & a leg.....
Had a go in my pal's t78 powered supra and all of a sudden, my BPUed thing feels like a piece of shit!!!
to4rs are cheaper than t78s here(don't know why) and hence, the reason i posted this thread.
Whatever choice, it's gonna burn a hole in my already shallow pocket.... come to think of it, we're all #[email protected]%ing nuts to have this hobby, but what heck!! Satisfaction's the spice of life!
if the to4 are cheaper get the to4 then its a better kit than the greddy i think !

IF the TO4R is cheaoer that the T-78 kit you are getting the TO4R for realy cheep or you are getting riped a new one on the T-78. Last time I cheched the HKS T04R is selling for about $5800 and the Greddy about $3800. The HKS Header is a work of art flanges and pipeing are huge, the wastegate dumps back to the exhaust on the TO4R kit, personaly I like the sound comeing out from under the hood like it is going to suck through into the filter.
Plus you can kinda sneek up on people if they don't hear the turbo. Wastegate to Atmosphere not chance. Mine is going to exhaust but when I run dyno I will open it and see if there is actually any HP there. Also I hear that is it easier to control boost if the wastegate is not open to atmosphere, from a former head mechanic at Pettit Raceing, and they only have a few SCCA winning cars sooo.

so true....

I rode in a HKS twin GT 2835 Supra, at 18psi and traction problem my head and my back were hit hard by the seat...as if we were being rear ended hard!really hard to imaging myself driving one of those beast....oh, and I heard To4R hits even harder than 2835, so To4R is defintely the kit I'll go with. plus, its HKS....its the best.:bthumb:

BTW, I was told T78 is designed for drag use only..not very streetable.

BTW, RanGer498, whats with all the Dragon Ball animation on your signature? are you in the field of animation?

A lot of misinformation and conjecture here in regards to the T78 and To4R. They are both very similiar, and if anything the T78 has less lag. I prefer the Greddy header as well, but they are both very good quality...you can't go wrong with either. I have actual experience with both btw :)
