Just bought a 1997 Auto TT. I have a 3800 stall converter and Built transmission. Do you think that a T78 would be a suitable kit for an auto??? Oh, I won't be doing fuel right away!!! So it may be 2 or 3 months before I get the fuel done. A little lag is ok, but it will be driven regulary. IF not a T78 then which kit (other than RPS) do you recommend.

Too big for an auto... and it's a waste without fuel, you should go with an SP-57 or PHR Stage 1 and upgrade to a larger Turbo after you upgrade your fuel.
T 78

Its pretty good, Lag ahhh its not that bad like people says all the time, Dave Andino went [email protected] in his auto Supra, and Humberto Aubi went [email protected] with his T 78 as well. ;)
I have the T78 kit with stock tranny and stock fuel.....I actually expected more lag with the kit, but I was surprised with it. I supect it would be much better/funner with a built tranny and upgraded stall. I will probably go with a 3800 stall also. As for fuel, it's fine as long as you watch your egts and dont over boost. Also while on stock fuel you will probably want to get the yellow wastegate spring for the type R racegate. The one in there now that comes with the kit will only allow you to boost NO LOWER than 18psi. Good luck. I think you will be very happy with the kit.

I'd change out the wastegate all together and get the new HKS GT Wastegate, I heard of problems with the Greddy wastegate (I'm sure Jesus heard the same thing)
one thing I have to say about the Type R wastegate, is that I CANT here it open. My friend has a HKS GT racegate and you know when his is open(sounds like a mad freight train).....To be honest, I dont know if the fucker even opens at all!!?? This worriies me.......

my greddy type r is loud as hell when it vents, you can definitely tell when it opens up. are you sure you have it hooked up correctly? you dont have it custom vented back into the exhaust do you?
