Yeah I need a great alarm for my MKIV tt, which will eventually be turbo timed, not anytime soon though.

I live in an apartment and well its not exactly ideal "area" if you know what I mean. I need an alarm that can disable the car or either shock the person trying to steal it. :D But, really I put alot of my paycheck in my car payment and if it gets stolen I am srcewed. Also what kind of alarms can say different things when someone touches it, "please back away from the vehicle"? <--I know this may not be what I need for serious protection, but just intrested.

Thanks

depends if you have a stick or auto. alarms for autos are ALOT cheaper. check out http://www.directed.com/ they own alot of alarm companies, viper is pretty good if you need an alarm. I went with compustar

It's cheaper for an auto if you are planning to have remote start. Only a few alarms can safely remote start a standard vehicle and they are usually more expensive than average alarms.

I have a compustar also

Compustar, Viper blah...the alarm systems are becoming worse by day. If you want a real alarm find a previous generation Clifford AG4. That thing still beats almost every new alarms out today.
not too add dei makes of viper make clifford ;)
as for compustar i hear d good as well as bad thing about them .

what is your price range because what you think is cheap in price others might not?

I also own a 6 speed and needed an alarm with pager which offered the features of remote start and turbo timing. After months of researching, I decided on the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 and then spent some time finding one at a good price. Eventually I found one for $269 shipped and it's going to be here Tuesday, I can't wait :D Anyways if you are interested or have more questions then e-mail [email protected] and tell Jonathan that Deep sent ya!

What I want to know is, how much is that going to cost to have installed?

Man, I am yet to see anything good to come out from those large chainstores. Some things would just make your jaw drop.
:agreed:

I would screw the big stores, you might get someone good, you might not. I would just ask around your area for experienced installers, and see if you can find someone who's car they've worked on. If you have to get it done fast, you can go to a chain retailer, but ask for the guy that will actually be working on yur car, you know, just make sure he's not a dumbass ;) "Hey is that one of them Super Turbos? Where can I get a wing like that for my Accord?"

How's that alarm working for you? Any complaints or comments? I saw this alarm in best buy tonight and it looked really nice. I'm curious about the range on the remote though.

I have the AutoPage 750 Alarm with autostart on my accord and I love it. Upgrading to the 850 soon. Also has balloon (proxy) sensor in/out. Works great.

I got my viper 550 es at circuit city. Works great, however the install was a horror movie. I took it their on a friday, just wantind a cd player installed. So after an hour of waiting, they say, did ya know you have a remote start on the car. Didnt know it so I said no (told me it was a bulldog). Anyhow, finish up installing cd player and I go to get in the car and dead!!!Wont start, they f'ed with my remote start. They have no idea how to get it off. So, I just say screw it, Im moving to a bad part of town, put on an alarm with remote start. So after 3 more hours of waiting, I get to leave, and damn airbag light is now on. Take it back, and they have no idea how to get it off. Go home and get a call from the head guy, tells me the main tech is going to be in on sat. So go back, and he still cant get the damn light off. Start to leave, and shit wouldnt ya know it, they broke my damn gas gauge!!! Take it back immediately to show them and tell them they can foot the bill from Toyota...Sorry for the rant but I am still pissed off, not to mention had to threaten them with a lawyer to get them to pay the damn bill to fix their mess.

Anyways, the viper 550 is a good alarm w/remote start!! Does anyone know if it can be transferred ( I currently have a auto to a manual??)
