So no article with analysis but this is just my analysis. I copied and pasted some sports or "muscle cars" to compare. The Supra sold 1,504 cars in Q3 2020. I decided to put a few other cars there. The new Corvette sold well with 4 times the sales of the Supra and it has supply issues due to GM strikes, etc. The NSX sold 28 cars! Wow, that's bad. The ancient GT-R sold 113 in the same time period. It's not a great time for the car world and Sports Cars in general but the Supra is a flop so far. They hoped to sell 12,000 a year? I hope that was world wide total because at the rate they are going it's unlikely to sell that many in a year in the US.

I don't believe they officially released a sales goal. There was some rumors of being 6k for the U.S.

YTD sales is 3,798. With 3 months left I think they will fall short of about give or take a 1k units.

It looks like the Zupra is taking a good chuck of sales away from the 718 Cayman and Boxster.

This car went on sale in July 2019. 12 months of sales gets us to 5,148. If we include the entire month of July 2020 and we arrive at 5,663.

I've heard the figure of 12k but it wasn't confirmed if it was all North America or just the US. Haven't heard the 6k figure, probably a revised goal seeing how they had issues selling the 1,500 special units by December 2019. Either way, they didn't hit their marks.

Not sure how accurate this site is but it usually aligned with Toyota's official numbers.

IMO no one should put the new Supra's in a class with the C8, NSX, or GTR's. This thing is a 370Z from Toyota bascially. The only thing, albeit slight, the Supra has going for it at the moment is the pricing. Next to the NSX and GTR, it's entry level consumption. Next to a C8 Vette, it looks like a bargain......for now at least.....but when the C8 prices start to drop back to reality and the shortages stop.....well....then you have a car that will be significantly overpriced versus the C8. If the Supra can't win with buyers now, it's not going to get better later. It's basically Toyota's own fault for being a cheap ass, outsourcing development, shunning real world buyer wants, and using a vehicle signature nameplate with a dedicated community to do it behind.

The only reason why I hope this POS does decent is because of the rumored in house next gen.
Probably going the all electric route.

Bad sales is good news. That means 1998 will come again and this car will go away. Or at least stop being sold in the states. Either is fine by me.

The U.S. is actually one of the better markets. I think it's doing pretty shitty over in the EU.

On a side note, so far they have sold 6,682 unit. Not great, but not but not too bad either. That's already more than half of the MK4's total sales.

We have a higher number of fuck Bois and generally more you tuber celebrity wannabes compared to all other countries combined that bought this car, remember when the Supra came out, every other commercial or youtube video was about how lit the Supra was.

American cars are doing well, those Challenger numbers are surprising. I didn't realize they were selling so many.

$28k gets you into one. Cheap car but has expensive trim levels.
