After base coat I applied the sticker
248943

And then some clear coat!

248944

Not 100%, but much better than before and I’m very happy with them, they’ll hold me over until I get them powder coated.

ABS delete kit from PHR

248948

Driftmotion hydraulic clutch release bearing, decided to use this after dicking around with the OS Giken alteration kit for way too long.

248949

Some progress pics from the recirc job!
248950

248951

And then update pic of it completed! He knocked it out insanely fast ?

WOW!!!!! GREAT WORK, Rich! Look at that engine bay...I feel like im right there in the garage with you. What awesome photos to share.

Quick Question. Is taping your valve covers for the AN fitting or Welding on the AN fittings a better idea? Are the threaded fittings a cleaner look?

Thanks so much Adam! It means a lot!

As for the AN fittings, I only did that to have a more flush look, I’m not sure if either is better than the other honestly, both get the job done!

I really admired the work on the recirculated wastegates, I almost didn’t want to get them ceramic coated! Here’s a few more pics once it was in my hands.
248953

Along with the compressor cover elbow welded on

248956

I also had him pinch and weld this water pipe I didn’t need

248955

And also this water neck, which needs cleaning/paint
248957

Since I love any and everything HKS related, I decided to buy this spark cover since it was a cheap pickup from friendly supra owner Jason (TheProPilot on YouTube and that might be his handle on here as well, thanks buddy). I wasn’t sure if I’d use it, figured it would be cool garage deco if anything. Ah hell, let’s get it powder coated and decide from there!
?

248959

With powder coat in mind, these are the colors I decided on for the parts, very retro hks like, but a bit of a twist for my taste (as well as my wife’s, she picked a little bit of teal to throw in the mix haha)

248960

Meanwhile I dropped off the hot parts for ceramic coating, after a few months of shop changing owners and parts getting coated in a finish that I didn’t order....the new owners were a pleasure to deal with and nailed the finish I was after! Satin black ceramic

They look grayish in this pic from the sheen in the sun, but they are indeed black (more pics below)

Before I forget, I’d like to point out the very falace shaped billet oil drain ?

248965

248966

248968

Wastegate Springs installed: Black/Blue/Yellow = 1.2 bar/17.4 psi, I hope I don’t regret this lol.
248969

Also before I forget, TRD engine mounts were had and installed. You can spot them in some of the previous pics
248975

I sent off the compressor cover to good friend Tuan (Biologist...who doesn’t know him!) for his guy to polish, I wanted to get this done before it got powdercoated to acheive as smooth a finish as possible when coated. Thanks again buddy!

248976

Back to the fuel filters, I did pretty much what Boost Wang did to a T other than build the bracket the way I saw fit.

Installed the ID2000’s after I got them back from flow testing and having 2 of them replaced!
248998

248999

And installed the PHR T-stat rotator to clear the turbo.
249000

I think it’s time to get this motor/trans back in, at this point in time it’s been 2 years 1 month since I first pulled the stock motor out.

249001

Clutch has to go on first as well as the hydraulic release setup.

And finally, it all goes in for the last time! Have to personally thank my wife for saving my motor as well, right before we were about to put it in, I go to open the garage and the edge of the cherry picker got caught by the lip on the garage door and started raising the entire engine/trans/hoist and she screamed for me to stop the door so my heart drops as I’m running to hit the switch! Turns out she pushed on the top of it to keep it from tilting over, and that was enough to help it slide off the track right before it was too late. Such a butt pucker moment! Ugh! Lol She takes pride in the fact that she saved the motor from crashing into the ground/Supra (even though I told her if anything goes bad or falls just move out of the way, don’t be a hero), so I was obligated to disclose that event!

Whew....alright motor in one piece still, in she goes.

It’s around this time we took a trip to San Diego for summer vacation (All of our first time to California/a real beach, had a blast). When we got back, all of the parts I had powder coated were done!!

I absolutely loved how they turned out, other than a hiccup with some threads being media basted so I had to chase them to repair, minor fix and the owner of the shop offered to compensate for the issue but I declined since I was otherwise happy!

I few more pics playing with the light, the illusion violet shows up as purple/blue violet under white/incandescent light and shoes up as pink under yellow/amber light, really cool effect!

Under white light:
249029

Yellow light on left, white light on right
249030

And cool example of how it transitions when under both lights, check out the gradient/transition on the spark cover

Oil cap in this pic that I decided not to use, looks to cheesy/cheap.

I picked up a few more parts. Fuel lab FPR and Vibrant catch can (inspired by Nick S)
249037

249038

Snapshot of my fuel line routing, not the best but definitely not bad! Out of center of fuel rail return, through flex fuel sensor, through FPR then back to the fuel hat/tank.
249036

Swapped out the stainless throttle cable for basically the same thing but black one from PHR

249039

Installed the Milspec firewall plate and connected harness
249040

249042

I got tired of seeing it in a deconstructed state so I threw on the fenders and hood, believe it or not this lit a fire under my butt seeing it like this!

2.5 years of dust at this point

Water neck painted

More work done by the welding buddy! The bungs at the bottom left are on the midpipe to use as vac source for catch can (I know it’s hit or miss, decided to give it a try to avoid fumes)

Trimmed the bumper slightly for clearance, I actually really like the look of the bumper conforming to the I/C pipe, call me a ricer lol ??‍♂

I have to type for this, great friend Eric Lam (MKIII_hater I think he is on here) definitely did an awesome job on rebuilding the diff, new ring/pinion, new seals/bearings, and OS Giken 1.5 way. I cant thank you enough brother!

Measuring using one of my favorite whiskey bottles lol. It was either this or wife’s kitchenware, I didn’t want to die that night so I got creative ?

249079

249080

Wife insisted that I smile since I waited a few months for the diff to get done and it was the last major piece of the puzzle lol
249081

Diff in! I know, the bushings....this is so I don’t take any longer to get this damn thing on the road! I’ll change later on if/when needed.
249082

Wife also insisted I have a glass to celebrate! ? from here on it’s a few more bolt on parts/ simple things and the car can touch the ground for the first time in 3 years!
249083

Next up the driveshaft

Geo from Realstreet told me these were rare/ getting hard to find? Studs from output flange

ARP extended wheel studs, really glad I did these.
249087

Midpipe with scavenge lines (-10x2) attached, these come from the sealed catch can.
249088

This pic should clarify the routing of my ventilation lines
249089

249090

Dilemma: HKS Ti doesn’t mate up to the midpipe for obvious reasons (not using adapter that mates to factory midpipe), so once again I’ll go pay Matt (welding buddy) a visit once the car is running.

Still need to do the ODO mod to make it white

Aaaaaand she’s landed. Wooooooohhh!! Car may need to come up a bit, I didn’t adjust coils for new wheels and tires yet.

Well that pretty much brings us up to date as of a couple days ago! All that’s left is loading the base map from Alpha on, he will be handling the tune via remote, and before start up I’ll be priming the engine with a melling oil primer.

If you made it this far, thanks for checking out the thread! Car needs a bath BADLY, I’ll post back up when it’s clean and running with video ?
