I found these at the local pull-a-part, I'm trying to find the specs to see if they'd work on my 7mgte. They're out of a full size ford conversion van.

ford coil packs are shit!!! please trust me on this. i work on triton v8's and the likes for my job (penske has those gas moving vans...not many fords but plugs/coils are notorious on our units) it seems like almost every van has shat out atleast 1 or 2 coil packs.

maybe the ones you have will pass an ohm test but ive seen some brand new ones go out after 6 months. i wouldnt gamble with van parts.

why would you want to do this anyway? those wouldnt fit without more work than LS coils, and seeing as how they shit the bed alot more often than....ANYTHING its kind of redundant as an "upgrade"

Why even bother? The OEM coils will far exceed your unspecified expectations. Unless the OEM's impedance are out of spec', then there is no need to change. And they'll do the job for 99.99% of all the HP expectations for this forum community. If your objective is aesthetics, then there are more sensible options.

Sorry for thread jacking.
Now, if you needed to change to Coil-on-Plugs to work with your EMS, what do you guys think would be the best option?

"The 7MGTE ignition module is a bit of an oddity that the current firmware does not support, so that is a minor complication...
...3 channel Ignition module (or coil on plug coils with built in ignition modules) - I'd probably use an off the shelf Bosch one if you're in Europe"
(Quoted from an E-mail conversation I had with someone from DIYAutoTune.com).

You can also get you some 2JZ GE coils and they are pretty much plug and play but you need to extend the harness a bit to get them to work. I have had them on my car for 2 yrs now with no problems. Really cleaned up the eng compartment

Switch them over for the love of god, the mk3 coils suck. Same idea as not needing a turbo timer to cool down bearings in a turbocharger.
