If you can hear you valves tapping that is bad. Usually you can hear the injectors going but not the valves.
Two things could be wrong in my opinion. One, it could be a bad valve, rings, or piston...oh oh Or it could be a bad fly wheel. Sometimes the sound can seem like it's coming from the valve cover area. You better have a compression or leak-down test. This can be done without taking off the head. It should tell you if you have a bad valve(s),or anything else. If you want to see if it's your fly wheel, put it in 4th gear while parked and slip the clutch slowly while engaging it in gear with the parking brake and/or brake on. If the sound(ticking) goes away then it could be a bad flywheel. The problem is, if the sound goes away it is still no guarantee that it's the flywheel so have a compression test no matter what. Sorry but I think it's going to cost you.namahs said:Hello,
It all started with this tank of gas. How do I tell the difference between the valves tapping and the injector problem. Can I check it out by just taking off the valves tapping.
thanks,
