I took my car to have the timing belt replaced today, but my
machanic was not able to get the crank pully bolt to loosen. He said he tried with one air gun but is concerned he may snap the bolt off if he tries with a larger air gun. Has anyone had this problem ? Please help !!!!!!!!!!:(

My mechanic stuffed a piece of some kind of rope down in the cylinder to prevent it from coming up all the way, and that held it enough for him to break it loose with a 3ft breaker bar. I would imagine that an impact wrench would put more force than a 3ft breaker bar, but im not sure. Maybe try some liquid wrench in there or something??

Good luck..

I had the same problem. mine was on there so hard that we had to take the starter out and lock the flywheel and then use a 2000 foot pound impact setup at a profesinal shop. First just try and heat the bolt up with a torch. and get the biggest impact you can find. Turn the bolt counter clock wise.
