I'm wondering if 275 40 18 will fit in the rear on this rim size.
18x9.5 +30mm rear. -5mm fender clearance Current size is Bridgestone S03 rears 275/35/18

Most info I could find on the size was this on the 275 40 18
It's 26.6" in overall diameter. The overall section width is 11.1".

I also would like to know if 285 35 18 would fit.

I measured but it still doesn't exactly tell if it will or won't
It's real close though.
If someone has ever ran this size on a MKIV let me know.

Thanks in advance.

I'm just going based on plugging and chugging from my sizing since I know and can see how mine fits.

With a 1" narrower wheel in back than I have, plus your 275 tire vs the 285's I run, you can use a lower offset than I have, which I estimate to be about 12mm in your favor. So since I have +45mm offsets, that would give you a +33 ...however, you are asking about a +30 so my conclusion is you could very likely have a couple millimeters of interference, or just barely clear if your car is not lowered more than mine and you don't corner or launch/squat harder than me. Mine is lowered a little over 1-1/4" on Tein HA's. Again just my opinion, but you will have clearance problems with the 285 tire at that offset.
i was actually thinking this same question today

i need new rears and currently i have 285/40/18s, which rub a lot. (im on S-Tech springs and 18" volk Gt-u's. not sure the offset) and rolled fenders also
can anyone else chime in on 275/35/18s?

I'm currently running 275 35 18's in the rear. No rubbing. unless it hits a dip going fast then it rubs the fender a little. Since yours are rolled you shouldn't have any issues at all.

Where do your 285 40 18 rub mostly? width wise, diameter height wise, or both?

Thanks for the descriptive conclusion.
I was at a car show this weekend and I saw a car with these 285 35 18 and tucked nicely under the fender. It was a tt though.
I have the HKS hiper damper II's on my car and can adjust the height and stiffness. Looking at the tire specs for Bridgestones overall diameter for the 285 35 18's would be 26" and overall width of 11.1" which is where I'm pretty much at now width wise with tire on the rim.
