When I had my Buick Grand National, It was a rule of thumb to lock the torque converter at the track. I made 50+ 11.50 passes without any issues. I am curious to know how many people routinely lock their converters.

Let's assume a Supra with a 4K PI single plate converter with a BL tranny is making 600HP at the wheels. What would be the expected life of the converter if it is locked during 1/4 mile passes and routine street racing?

Thanks guys...........

When I looked into autos not long ago, everyone said NOT to lock the converter or it wouldn't last. I asked Kean at BL and one other person that I can't recall. Both have known built auto trannys.

i have a torque converter from transwerks and have locked it up for over a year and i just sent it back and was returned with a $300 bill for refurbishing not bad, it is okay to lock it up if you have the right converter it really loads up the turbo nice!!!
