I just did a service on my 87 NA auto and I read that it takes 1.7 qts.but it wasnt reading on the dipstick, before I read it I got the car warmed up and then put it in neutral than checked it and still nothing.so I put the rest of the second qt in and than it barely started to read.

Did I do something wrong?

Total is 7.6qts, but I think with a drain/refill, it's supposed to be 1.7qts.

Maybe you drained out more than the manual expected you to, lol.

*Note* Go Slow and Do not Overfill add a little at a time and keep checking over and over everytime you add some and if you do over fill take a long hose and vacuum pump and pump some out....take your time Patience is key here :ugh2:
