My tranny is stuck in second. The shifter, although, is not. It feels as if it's in neutral. Is my tranny fried? What are my options?

Ok. I had slowed down for something or another and was in 2nd. I then started to accelerate, about 3/4 throttle. When I tried to shift to 3rd, the shifter abruptly popped out and made a very loud 'pop' sound. When I let the clutch out it was still in gear even though the shifter was in the neutral position. I hope that is enough detail for some responses. Thanks.

trans problem

Ihad the same thing happen to me a while back. But when mine broke I was still able to go back into first. Toyota says that the unit is not repairable but I build transmissions for a living and was able to repair mine. If yours is not able to be repaired I might be interested in buying it.
