Hey guys over the weekend I was racing a friend of mines car, the first time we raced I started out like I normally do drop it at 4000 and qiockly depress the brake and smoke them for a minute to warm them up. The race started I dropped it at 4k rpm, missed 2nd gear, maybe missed 3rd dont remember my adreniline was pumping too hard. So he say do you want to run again so I did the same thing to warm the tires up by dumping the clutch and pressing the brake except this time it was being different when the tires were spinning but probs because they were hot. Anyway missed all the gears again got to the end went to put it in first and it felt like where 1st position was there was like a empty hole so I had to keep it in 2nd the rest of the way home, got home and it will go into all the gears like normal, but when i put it in first and relewase the clutch it sounds like theres very minor grinding so i pulled the tranny and took off the bell housing aqnd the housing directly behind that to reveal a few gears, all in there look brand new. So while I had the bell housing off I tried to run thru all the gears by spinning the drivshaft end and the clutch end also spun too with no probs or sounds even first was fine, So I put it all back together like normal and try to see if first gear is fine again and it makes the same grinding noise so my question is has any of you ever encountered this problem and maybe know what it is or how to fix it. And my second question is why whould everything be fine with the bell housing and the housing directly behind the bell housing off. TIA sorry if it sounds very confusing,

PS. And on my drive home instead of the shifter being normal like this
1 3 5
NNNNN n's being nuetral
2 4 6

it felt like it was like this

N X X
22222 the 2's being 2nd gear is neutral pos. x = no gear
X X X

bit it all fine now and goes into all the gears now like its supposed to. Thanks Again ANdrew

your problem

From what it sounds like..it seems as if your syncros are bad. I don't know how much they are to replace..but if u have a shit load of mis-shifts..at high rpm's..you could encounter this problem.
