I've been doing some research on transmissions. We all know the V160 is a bad mutha. Getrag rates it at 500nm design spec or 450nm/4000rpm.
Doing a serch for conversions that should mean
1 newton meter = 0.7376 pound feet = is pound feet the same as lbs per ft (dont laugh im completely math illiterate) and I want to make sure im doing this right.
If thats the case then that would make the v160 rated for 368.8 hp right ?
Then if thats the case why are people making so much HP and these transmissions survive ?

I was looking at some tremec transmissions that are rated in lbs-ft
the TKO is rated at 600 lbs-ft which would be 813.60nm
Some of the T-56's like the ones used in camaros and vipers are rated at anywhere between 330 and 550 hp or between 447.39 to 745.66nm ?

Im just curious
1) did I do my math right ?
2) why the v160 is so bad ass ?
3) where does the rpm rating come into play ?

Thanks for playing !
