Here's the deal: I've got a 2000 Celica GT-S (4spd sportshift).
There's 3 or 4 Lexus IS300s in junkyards across the country. I was wondering if you think it'd be possible for me to buy the transmission off of it (5spd sportshift) and swap it into my car?
Only problem is that it's RWD. My car's FWD. What do ya think?
Well a normal tranny swap is between 5000-6000. I'm not sure if it's even possible you would have to compare the two transmissions. If it can be done I would think it would cost at least 9,000, probably more.
More than it is worth. First you need to find out if out of some miracle it bolts right up... The IS is an inline RWD which makes me guess that the configuration for your 4 banger is just not going to work well.
hi
there is another thing you also could do.
mount the 6 speed who is delivered in japan.
it will fit right on.
it also have the 6 speed in europe, but it will be cheaper in japan.
