Did you have your car @ MPH in Simi Valley this last Mon?
Is it silver with a TRD exhaust?
What's your impression of their mechanic? Forgot his name.

BTW, if you ever need wheel alignment I have a place for you...
Had mine done today and I think they've done a perfect job. They use new laser-based equipment.

I've got a mechanic that I've known for over 10 years, that specializes in Japanese cars and has worked on quiate a few BPU Supra's, but they're in Orange County.

Jay, it's my car that is at mph unlimited. I was having boost problems and couldn't figure it out myself. I just found out about mph and they are local to me so I decided to give them a shot. Eric is their mechanic's name and he has experience with the supra. One of the owners, Eyal, has two supras being built now. I haven't gotten my car back yet, should be sometime later today, but I can tell you that Eric is paying attention to details and keeping me updated frequently. It is a welcome change from some of the bigger shops with lots(read: too many) projects.

I talked to Marina Del Rey Toyota a couple of months back and hooked up a parts AND labor discount (yes, the parts discount will be applicable to whatever service you're having done, however you might want to make sure to speak with Roger in addition to the parts dept manager in advance). We get 20% off parts, labor discounts vary though. Ask for Roger in service when you call. BTW, they put a new engine in my single turbo/VPC'ed supra, so they also don't mind working on modified cars.

James,

I know the guys and, so far, am really impressed. I found Eric, Eyal & Eran both easy to work with and knowledgeable.
You being in Newberry Pk, they're almost in your back yard.

I understand that it's a TRD exhaust that you have. How do you like it and do you happen know details about the new TRD?

Maybe will meet someday @ MPH...

Jay,
It is quite nice having a tuner that is local. I had to drop off some parts yesterday morning and the fact that it is right down the road, made things much easier.

Yah, its a TRD exhaust on the car(1st gen). I like it alot, as it sounds great and is very good quality, but I will probably go with an exhaust with less bends when I decide to go single. Don't know which one yet, but I am not a fan of the sideways tip look.

Let's definately hook up sometime.

James,

Here's a brief (too brief for my liking) description that I grabbed from suprastore's site (new TRD):

"This is the brand new BAD BOY exhaust from TRD!! It utilizes a straighter piping design and is a polished stainless steel fabrication. As with many of the newer exhausts, this unit exits at a slight angle from the rear bumper exhaust cut-out. Beautiful fit and finish of course.....as it comes from TRD in Japan."

Looking for some tech details, though.

Jay
Jay,

I'll actually consider this exhaust when I go single as I work in Moorpark, right next to highway patrol. I have been pulled over a few times(no tickets) and have been told to get a front license plate AND my exhuast is "illegal." I've told the police officers that my exhuast was a TRD exhuast and is made by Toyota. To which I usually get a response "Oh, ok, get a front license plate." It's gotten me out of trouble before, so I might stick with the TRD brand.

LOL.

If you don't go TRD maybe you'll need to keep a "kosher exhaust" certificate in your glove compartment...;)

Hey supra_10,

So where's that place that does laser alignments?

I'm looking for a place that can do a good alignment with lance's alignment specs.

Enrique,

Harry's Automotive
1154 La Brea Ave
HWD 90038
It's @ intersctn of LaBrea & Lexington (1 blk north of Sta Monica Bl).

Where can I read about this Lance spec?
Is the alignment for N/A & TT stock the same?

Jay
Jonathan,

First, per Harry, his laser-based sys is totally independent of the tires. So I believe that it really does not make any dif.

However, if I didn't know the shape of my alignment, or if my old tires indicated some bad misalignment, then I'd do the alinmt first and only then put on new tires, unless I could do both around same time & location. That's gut stuff... not based on any real physical facts.

Where can I find stuff on Lance's spec?
