Where in the pan does the oil return lines from the turbo go to? To the lower or upper part of the pan?

doing a NA-T does it matter where in the pan the hole is tapped in the pan for the oil return?

Yes...tap the upper pan where it is supposed to go.

On the TT the return I believe goes onto the upper portion of the oil pan. I think you should locate the return up as far as you can on the pan to ensure oil flow out of the tube. I did this on my mk2 and had no problems.
