Turbo Question

I searched and really didnt find what I was looking for. I am looking for a turbo in the 800-1000 dollar range. This car will be street driven and drag run. I want about 500+ hp with or without race gas. I really cant find any info on what turbo to go with. I am running a maft afpr 550's 255 warlbro 3 in exhaust from turbo back wideband emanage rebuilt motor ffi with a q45tb and a npr intercooler. I have looked at the gt37 the sc61 and the gt4088. Are these capable of doing what I want with what I have or do I need something better or something custom built? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. :bigthumb:

Bump for a good question, I'm looking for similar power, and have similar mods.
7mpower.com look at some of those cars and what u want to be running.
Yes to all of the above questions! Also if you looked into all the mentioned turbo's why would you ask this question. I feel you need to look more indepth to what you are trying to accomplish. Then study the capeablities of each turbo, flow capeablilities, and spooling characteristics. If you don't you will be wasteing time. Why buy something or look into buy something without knowing whatit is capeable of. :dunno: :wtflol: :)

BTW 1000.00 is the begining and you will need more money for any turbo that is out there. Wastegates, down pipes, ect, ect, ect.
The 1000 is just the turbo I understand I will need a manifold and wasegate and dp and oil lines. Also I have looked into these turbos and they all support between 600-750 hp. The problem I have is I dont know spool time throttle response or anything like that. Also turbo maps are like greek to me soo I was looking for some help and some ideas. Thats all sorry if my knowledge isnt great Im trying to learn.

This is where you need to read a bit more, or call up the manufacturer's. That's what I did. Mostly all will work but it depends on the setup and supporting mods. The sc61 is gonna give the better spool over the gt4088. Gt4088 will need a ffi to take advantage of high hp or there may be lagg. The gt4082 will also be a great turbo to look into. They will give you 500 to the wheels easily.
Thanks quick thats what I was looking for I guess Il look into compressor maps and stuff like that I apprecate it
sp61gt could do it i think with the proper tune and on race gas. supraMOB did 451ish on an sp61gt but i cant remember the psi exactly want to say low 20s. sp63 would probibly work with a bit more lag
cool then it looks like a gt4082 or 88 it is
Gt4082 :)
or you could go t04r for 850 and run a mox of 700 hp.
whats the lag on that monster and where do I get one lol

This is another good choice! This is a gt turbo so why not. The gt4082 is a fast spooilg turbo. May be better for what you want, and rated only 80rwh less than gt4088 670hp..
Why are you looking to buy a turbo and mentioning turbos that can make 650-700 when you only want 500? Your fuel system is barely going to support 500 as it is, so why even look at turbos that flow that much?

This is of course where looking up the compressor maps will help. Find a turbo that has that sweet spot in the range where you will be running and that can make 500rwhp easily. The PHR Stage 1 that I used is capable of 625-650 sure, but hit over 500 on only 14psi and hadn't even gotten to the sweet spot yet. I needed more fuel and better engine management.

For a TO4R (PTE67) on a 7MGTE (figures taken from a friends supra with this turbo):

Possitive boost at 2600rpm
10psi at 3500 rpm
Full boost at 3800-3900rpm

GT4082 is basically the same, slightly quicker spool.
um if yah don't wanna spend a lot you can always do the ct-26 upgrade with the 61 trim. will support 500 but your tapping it out at that power.

What CT upgrade have you seen that will make 500rwhp? I've seen a few anomolies break 400, but never seen anyone get close to 500. Who have you seen make that much power on an upgraded CT?
