This question is for anyone with a factory original alarm and a turbo timer:

Can you arm the security system when the turbo timer has the car still running?

Note that some of the factory alarms can be configured to unlock the doors for you when the engine shuts off. This is how my car was setup when I bought it.... took me a week to figure out why I was always finding my car unlocked..... heh.

If your car is doing this, let me know, and I'll try to dig up the instructions on how to disable this feature. I don't remember the procedure off the top of my head.

Thanks Andi. I haven't picked up my Blitz Dual TT yet, but I'll email you after I get one and if I run into that problem.

NP.. the way to know if this "feature" is enabled for you is.... get in the car..... start it... lock the doors... then stop the engine and take the keys out. If the doors unlock, this "feature" is enabled.. if not, it's fine.

The feature is off. I have to unlock my doors to get out after shutting the car off. Thanks.

One thing: Do you have a manual that covers all the things I can do with the factory security system? All I know how to do is lock/unlock the doors right now. I accidentally put the car in panic mode last night when I was under the car with my keys in my pocket. So it's got a panic mode. I'd like to be able to pop the rear hatch with the remote as well.

U sure you have the factory alarm? I am not familiar with a panic mode. I recall looking at the manual long ago, I'm not sure where it is now (thus my reference to digging up the instructions)... Mine has two buttons on the remote. Top one controls your Supra (lock and unlock, flashes parking lights once on lock, twice on unlock).. bottom one controls "the other Toyota in your garage."

Yeah Andi, that's what I have. Even has the Toyota symbol on the remote. All I can say is the remote was in my pocket, I was laying on the ground loosening the fuel filter, and it scared the shit out of me when it went off. It was not armed at the time. Pressed the arm/disarm button and it stopped.

Weird. I didn't even know we had a panic feature. WTF. I have to go look this up.... :)

You must have the same remote but a different alarm system. I have no panic mode... just tried holding either button for 10+ seconds and nothing.... and I found my manual... no mention of a panic mode.

I thought most panic buttons on alarm systems is to push both buttons at the same time for a preset amount of time. That's how it is on my Acura factory alarm.
I'm with Andi on this one.. Must be different for the 97-98 models. Do our cars have a glass break sensor?

Thanks Matt
99% of stock alarms do not have glass break sensor toyota does not! !and basicly suck and are very easy to bypass!
I have a 97TT and bought the keyless and put it in myself. I have the glass breakage sensor and the panic mode. The manual is on the mkiv.com page i believe. If you need to know how to turn off the unlock when you turn off the car feature, let me know and I'll go find my manual. There are two alarm systems available for the supra from toyota. One has the glass breakage sensor and one doesn't.

Panic Mode on TDSE Alarms

I have a '93.5 MKIV with the optional TDSE (Theft Deterrent System Enhancement). With this system, the alarm has a panic mode, that is activated by depressing the single button remote for 2 seconds.
