Ok after ripping some of the plumbing off, its official that my turbos are fucked, i have been fucked by the shaft play reaper. I have never seen so much shaft play in my life on a turbo. they are jdm turbos. My question is what do i do now? I cant afford anything huge as i am in uni, but i need to drive my car. I would like to know how difficult it will actually be to swap USDM turbo's in there....or should i totally vamp that idea and single it?
Please any and all advice will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Josh

if you get the complete usdm twins, they will bolt up to your midpipe. dont think they will bolt to your downpipe.
you might need a re-tune though for those either way though.

if you want to spend the least possible, i would just get some jdm twins again. you can probably scoop a set for super cheap.
but either way your gonna have to rip those bitches out and its a hella gay job. best go single turbo to prevent future antichrist twin removal AGAIN.

[edit]

upon reflection, just get a set of jdm twins man. they will fix you up and not pillage your wallet. finish school up.

Used USDM twins will be just as suspect and likely to fail, considering all of these turbos are 12+ years old and have who-knows-how-much mileage.

Get what you can, finish school. Party on later!

that was my excuse to go single even though i miss the old tubi's.get a cast manifold, an ebay downpipe,a good wastegate and a 200 dollar small t4 chinese turbo so you can keep it cruising until you have money for a good turbo

If you are doing the work yourself, and you are looking to minimize cost, then get another set of JDM twins. If you aren't doing the work yourself, then I'm with everyone else and say go single. All you have to do is look at the write up on removing the twins and it will make you realize a single turbo is a much better option. Just keep the turbo on the smaller side and you won't have to upgrade injectors or anything like that.

I'm running a 60-1 on my JDM 2JZ-GTE with 550cc supra injectors (stupid choice, waste of money, go for 650's if you are going to upgrade) and I didn't have to change any of my fueling. Running stock ECU and hitting 12.1 on my AFR on WOT.

*edit - If you do decide to stick with JDM turbos a buddy of mine in Fort McMurray has a set. I'm pretty sure he's not going to use them since he's doing a single build, so he would probably sell them if you wanted them

Ill be doing all the work myself, I think i am going to go the single route.... Little more money, better for the car, and less work in the future. Ryanv I will get back to you if I change my mind. And mazzer thanks for the offer, but i dont think I will need it, take it apart and have fun with it.

Thanks,

Josh
