Ummm.... Turbo question

375 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  SUPRAT
Guys I have a question reagarding turbos.

I want to know which is the biggest turbo capable of pumping the most hp among this 3 turbos.

HKS T51R-SPL
Turbonetics T76
LSE T90

I know that the SPL is capable of at least 1000hp as this was told to me by Chris from HKSUSA.

I have no idea about the t76.

I know that the T90 is prolly the biggest turbo among the three but I'm not too sure about the quality of LateShiftEngineering products.

I would be glad if anyone can tell me the max hp output of the t76 and the t90.

An early thanx to all of your around here.

Can't believe I haven't got a reply from all these supra owners here.
Probably the only way to get an answer on this is to find out the inducer and exducer sizes for the compressor and turbine wheels for each turbo, and the a/r ratios. With out those it would be impossible to know the answer. I dont think anyone here has much experience with turbos this big ang laggy. Most people use turbos that are sized more appropriately for a 3 liter motor.

I dont know much about Supras as far as these turbos go, but i have seen V8's with those turbos. the T76's ive seen are making roughly 950 crank hp, and the ones with a T91 are making about 1,700 crank hp maximum.

If I were to pick from those three, Id choose the T-51R. HKS make some very nice units. I sure hope this is going to be for a trailer queen drag supra, because the lag on any of those is fairly significant. A smaller/better sized turbo for the Supra would actually be faster(driveable) than those three with an better than average driver. Personally, I wouldn't go with any of those, I'd pick a nice set of HKS 2835 Twins ,a T-66, or an SP-66~70 for the most streetable monster supra. If you are wondering, Walser has 2835's and hangs with modded turbo Suzuki Hayabusa Sport bikes. I don't see a problem with Walser's supra tuned correctly for the track running nines. But that'll sacrifice the streetability of his car so we can understand why he hasn't gone full drag. T-66 Supras have run 9's. I pre-suppose the SP-70 equipped Supra can easily run a 9 too~ (assuming)

Saad Saad had a T76 that pushed 901RWHP with 15% drivetrain loss. This run is with nitrous I think. He (claims)averages 10.2 q-mi, but he says he has run a nine on an occasion.

Bryce has a T51R or so I've heard. Last I had heard of his car, he ran a 871RWHP. I got a vid of it. May be more now, after running that 1000RWHP HMS Viper 800R last week. He runs 11s but I don't think that is a good example of a T51R's true capability.

Never heard of the LSE T90.

Hope this helps.
