Obvisously its getting a lil harder to find a laptop with a serial input so I hear of a few people using a serial to usb adapter...I did this on my tec IIII and always worked fine..However I still see a few people not recommending them at all, has anyone had particular luck with one brand adapter then another?

get the one from radio shack. It seems to be one of the few that work with serial to USD.

If you guys really need a notebook that has serial, either get a used Dell D600, or a Sager NP3880.

The Sager chassis is made by Clevo, which is also the maker of the Alienware chassis that cost a fortunte. Sager is just the generic name if you will.

The only thing I don't like about my Sager is the 15.4" screen. I want like a 12 or 14 :)
