Hi all, trying to remove the output shaft seal on my MKIV 6 speed. I am having an absolute btch of a time getting this seal out. I've cruised pretty much the entire forum regarding this issue but couldn't find any specific tips. I've been prying on it as hard as I can with hooks, as shown in the picture, but the soft inner part of the seal is starting to shred off and the outer part of the seal isn't budging at all.
Any advice anyone can give me? Is it safe to drill a hole in the metal part of the seal and insert a self tapping screw for removal, or could I damage the housing doing this?
Will I have to use the SST they use in the factory manual?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.
