I was checking out the video clips of the veilside supra. It's BOV sounds pretty damn unique... like some kinda chirping bird. Does anyone know what specific BOV is it? I've exhausted all the links on bov sound clips but nothing comes close to the veilside IMO.

I'm pretty sure what you're hearing is actually high PSI compressor-surge and not a BOV. Most Japanese tuners don't use BOV's since the engine is supposed to be more responsive without one.

Turbo newbie here - wouldn't the lack of a BOV result in back pressure which slows and could damage the turbos?

Yes. Like in my previous post, the back pressure is called compressor-surge. It causes the bearings in the turbo to wear prematurely.
