My car has been down awhile due to finally getting around to putting on everything I had lying around in wait and waiting on ordered parts. 2 items that I put on were a VPC and Fields SFC. Well after getting it all sorted out I start the car up, all VPC values set to *0* and the Previously owned SFC just turned on. The car idled a little rough, and I just replaced the coilpacks, harness clips and plugs so I know it isn't that, and just reeked of raw fuel. I tried messing with the idle control but there didn't seem to be too much variation with it as it never really smoothed out either way I turned it up until it just died from going too far in adjustment. I let the car run for about 4 minutes and it smoking abit but probably due to it being cool out but the gas smell was overwhelming. I shut the car off and went in and my GF complained about how much gas she could smell on me so...the car is idleing way rich. Now, why would this be if everything is set to *0*? Is there any reason that maybe the previoous owned SFC could cause this? I really don't see how since it is tuned for RPM and not at idle... Anyone else experience this when they hooked theirs up?

I sold the MAf...

Could the wrong chip/bad chip cause it to idle so rich? I mean, it's emitting nothing but raw fuel, reaks of it. All of the values are at zero as is the SFC. The car has been sitting for 2 months and there is moisture in the exhaust aswell. Any other ideas?

What's up Greg? Yeah, I ordered a new chip after I got the unit. I went to the garage this morning and opened the VPC up to get the chip info... CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS IS THE RIGHT CHIP FOR STOCK 550 INJECTORS W/ A 6SPD... Looks like it says **jza8018d** This is really annoying me as I can't figure out why it is churning so much fuel, something can't be right.

Sean,

The SFC and VPC are wired correctly. The next step is to get it on a dyno and see if it will tune. Until that is done, no telling where you're at. I don't know what maps Angel left in the SFC but maybe you could look them over to see if the map you're running is a rich one.

That chip # sounds ok. I don't remember the "d" though.

Yeah, I zero'd the SFC all out and even turned it off...made no difference. I am at a loss.

I wouldn't worry too much. My car has a fairly strong fuel smell when I start it up also. I didn't notice it real bad whn I was standing behind your car.

Get that thing on a dyno/wideband o2! :)

:) just found out I was sent the wrong chip, this chip is for 720cc injectors & a 2835 twin kit. That would explain it...now I need to get the right chip.....
