what station?

I usually just hit 76 in san jose for pump 100 unleaded...

It's unleaded so it's perfectly legal.

if it's 76, you can probably find it using their website's pump locator using the race gas option/filter

yeah its 76...

its like the only that have it though...

so how much deference do those things make?(being that its unleaded)
Are you asking...

The difference between leaded and unleaded that makes it illegal?
Or the difference in running leaded vs unleaded?

Lead in gasoline mainly acts as an octane booster and lubricant within the combustion chamber. It was used to provide a lubricating cushion between valves and soft valve seats to protect against wear in old school muscle cars. Some would argue it doesn't have much purpose these days as a lubricant with hardened valves and the advancements in engine component materials.

My take on it is that most of the highest octane race gas I can find out there is leaded (c16 for example). If you only need to run 100 or 105 octane for your set up, stick with the unleaded if you can find it (Trick makes some I believe). At the end of the day, lead is hazardous to our health and you can be fined up to $10,000 for running it on the public streets/highways.

The 76 in Stockton is $5.5? for 100 octane i believe. They have 95 and 110 in Tracy.
76 in San Jose had it for $4.80 ish a few weeks ago. It's been in the 4 dollar range for years though as it doesn't get affected by oil prices as much as the normal 87, 89, 91 and diesel.

100 octane isnt race gas
I tend to agree.

But that's what union 76 calls their 100 octane on pump. Since we're talking about a 100 octane 76 station pump, I decided to call it that as well here.
