I was about to install my water outlet housing, when a piece fell out of it.
Does anyone know if this is a bit of the water outlet housing, or if its just a random piece that happened to be in there?

It sure looks like the valve from a thermostat.

Is there a temperature stamped on the end of the copper portion of it (something like 180F)?

no there isn't.
There's 'KE' and '1' stamped on the bottom.

Hmmm.

Is that a pin on the end of it? Can you push the pin in, by using force?

Can you take a closer picture, this is rather weird.

Edit: Just had a look at thermostat housing I have here. There is a temperature switch that looks like what is in your picture, however with the thread portion broken off.
