replace seats with bucket seats, rear seats carpet stock insulation, spare tire.
how much would insulation weigh? 5lbs?
dont waist your time on taking out insulation
replace you drivers seat with a bucket lose the spare tire and factory jack and you should save 60lbs thats a good start every 110lb you save is a tenth in the qarter mile so it all counts
and taking out the spare tire isnt good for weight distirbution
instead you can relocate the battery to the rear

Take off your doors and rear hatch. If you have a targa... remove that too. When you hit about 50mph jump out of the car.... that will save at least 240lbs.

Hit the search bar for fuck sakes. This has been brought up more than 1J vs. 7M threads. MKIII's are pigs.... you arent going to skin much weight off regardless. Go buy a 240 if you want something lighter.

Im in a bad mood.....

replace hood and targa with carbon fiber, get rid of all the stock seats and toss aftermarket buckets in the front, gut the trunk, empty your glove box and ash tray, drain your wiper fluid, run with a half tank of gas, drive naked, just dont pull off your bumper support.

I weighed the front driver seat 8 years ago and it was something like 70lbs. I'd start there as other have also pointed out.

All the sound deadening ended up weighing over 35lbs. Theres 3 layers of it in some spots.

Bumper supports, 100lbs
A/c and stuff under the dash, 100lbs atleast
Boat anchor cast iron inline 6, 100lbs atleast
Door bars, 10-20 lbs

Bumper supports are NOT 100 lbs, BOTH together weight 53lbs......
Stuff under the dash?? You mean the heater core and all the ac lines including condenser/compressor? your lucky to shave off 50lbs and that's pushing it.

To the OP
First of, what is the purpose of the car! is it a track car? Do you care how your interior looks? do you mind a/c/heat? what about noise and vibration while driving, do you like it. is this a daily driver or are you trying to be comfy and go on road trips with it. auto or manual?

^this.

I used be worried about weight on the mk3 and trying to strip it down, but then I drove the car and was like "this is gay and ugly", so i put every thing back in. mk3's are heavy and you just have to accept that. For the money to signifigantly lower the weight you could just add more power and keep the luxuries.

Full interior ftw!

Well if you are setting up for drift, i don't care if you have more power to make up for weight you still need a less heavier body and even weight distribution.
