I have a 97 and in the rear there are two wires, one on each side that come from under the plastic molding behind the rear speakers and plunge through the sheet metal (to the underside of the car) on each side of the factory sub box?

I am turning my car into a two seater and am going to make a new floor in the rear (minus the sub box, spare, foam, etc) - but I cant' get the sub box out without either cutting the box or disconnecting these cables....

Help always welcome :)

I believe those are the wires that go to the rear speed sensors for use by the ABS system and or the trac. The speed sensor for the speedometer is positioned on the transmission . Slide under the rear of your car if you can and follow the wires from either wheel and I bet they match the position of these two wires. It must be for safety reason. Try disconnecting the sensors from under the car near the wheel and see if you can pass the connector ends along with the rubber grommet into the cabin. Then remount once the sub-box is out.
