Okay,
I'm going to buy an EGT gauge, But I want to know which type you use.

Also I've seen some that wire up from gauge to exhaust. And some that have some sort of electric box(I think for peak hold)

But what is most accurate, and best.

Also where do you guys put your probe??? on the #6 exhaust port, or where they all combine???

thanks for your help guys

I have an Autometer, but its not completely installed yet. I mounted the probe into the turbo inlet where it meets the exhaust manifold. It was pretty easy if you have a 3/8" pipe tap and use the correct drill size, 27/64" I believe it was. I figure an overall temp is better than one cylinder, plus I didnt really want to remove the exhaust manifold to tap into it. You will have to remove the turbo though. The black box is called the Pyrometer Temperature Module. All wiring goes into this box. Hope this helps

dbsupra here-

imo- the most accurate and bang for the buck egt is the greddy. the autometer gauges arent bad, just not quite as accurate. stay far far away from vdo. really slow, really inaccurate.

Autometer doesn't have a separate box, does it?

I got my Autometer EGT and cracked the box open. I didn't see any black box. Am I missing somthing?

Mine isnt in the box anymore, but I think it came with the probe kit. I got guage part # 3356 which is the black face Sport Comp, and probe kit # 5249. if you just bought the guage, it wont come with the probe kit because they have different types. I got the cheapest one (46.99 at Summit) which will work fine. They have steel braided lines as high a $165.
