I just made up the term "arm" so its not a real term for it-anyways, its that skinny part facing towards you (Its not separate from the caliper, its about the thickness of your pinky). Mine has a crack completely through it. Will this affect brake performance? Is this the reason a harsh, grinding noise comes from that side during braking?

^ Is it the Torque plate or part of the caliper that fits over the outer brake pad shim of which there are 2? < If it's either of these, I'd replace it ASAP.

Supramikect is right do not mess around and replace that caliper if it is cracked cuz if it bbeaks you will lose massive braking power.
