My oil pressure sending unit was different. And I had some extra heater hoses still attached to the motor too cuz the heater box is on the other side in Japan.....I'm sure there are others...maybe, They're pretty close really...

JDM's are usually lacking some of the emissions devices (like EGR-careful if you live in an emissions state), also the boost is tuned for a max of ~280hp stock (easily fixed). As for interchangeable engine parts between the 7M-GE and GTE, there are not many. Although the heads and blocks are sorta the same size, they are not the same. Some fo the electrical differs too. If you are planning on going turbo, the cheapest option is to just drop in a 7MGTE. You are going to want to change a few things (like stock flywheel and W58 trans tend to fall apart after this happens). Most chassis parts are interchangeable of course. Good luck with it.

Search. JDM have no emissions equipment. No EGR.

There are a few other threads about interchangeble parts... please search.

Welcome to supraforums... search next time.

 :wtf: What are you talking about? The JDM and USDM make exactly the same power.

alot the sensors off the n/a are interchangable, same with the entire head. in fact alot of people use the n/a head, as it gives you about 10 ponies, but it moves the powerband back a tad.
I'd say if the n/a headis in good condition compared to the turbo, go for it.

Its not the head.. its the cams. The heads are identical.

I thought for the heads the turbo has lower lift cams, and the block just doesnt have the oil holes for the turbo, and has has lower compression pistons? Thats the only difference I know of between the head and blocks.

For the trannies. The turbo engine (7m-gte) comes with a 5 speed manual r154...the pressure plate and flywheel are different, but the clutch disks are interchangable. The n/a 5 speed is a w58, and the difference between the r154 and w58 is the r154 is bit bigger, and longer...also much stronger oposed to the w58 witch is shorter, and a bit smaller...also weaker then the r154

Also the rest is basicly self explainitory. Like the computer and harnests are different and must be used from simular car years for example of you have a 87 turbo you need to use the 87-88 years' harnest, and from what doctor jonez says on his site the 89 was a "transition" year witch you can only use the major parts like the computer and harnest from the 89 year, and as for the 90-92 years i beleaive its just like the 87-88.
