That's kind of a hard question to answer. As far as I know, Toyota didn't rate the tranny to handle anymore hp/tq than the stock hp.

However, the consensus is that the stock auto tranny can handle up to 500bhp. However, it is pushing the limits at that point. The stock tranny is very quirky and "tempermental." The pan is very small, so there is not a lot of extra fluid in there to cool things down, so it tends to get hot. Also, the factory traction control systmem engages a sub-throttle plate during shifts effectively lifting the throttle during shifts to protect the tranny. If this is eliminated, then it will significantly shorten the life of the tranny.

But if you leave the traction control intact, install a tranny cooler, and change the fluid very often (only using Toyota T4 fluid) then you will give the tranny the best chance of having a long life at BPU levels and up.
