what is this nipple thing on top of my r154 tranny? what's it do? what connects to it? is it important?

Looks like a vent. Celicas have this on the top of their tranny.

BTW for anyone that asks, this is not a Supra R154. It has a rear linkage shifter setup a la soarer/lexus.

soo... off topic. you can order this setup and then use this to put an R154 in a MKIV then... for those who are working w/ NA's!

is this nipple open to the inside of the cover? will it be a fluid leak if its left open?

anyways... you're correct... this particular r154 can be used in an mk4 (or SC )

but its not as easy as just "ordering"

well, put your mouth on that nipple and blow.. see if it passes thru into the shifter housing. the MA70/MZ20 cars dont use anything in that location on our stock shifter housings. i cant imagine that your car would have another use for a sensor or whatever.

oh, and we wont need to order the whole tranny... just the 1JZGTE bell housing, 1jz flywheel and the jzz30 shifter extension housing. thats all it would take to modify the MK3 tranny to fit a MKIV.

correct me if i'm wrong but.... i don't think you can "just" order the extension housing...
