With your Mkiv once the time comes that Gas vehicles are obsolete???

gas being gasoline.

we can assume that there will be e85, but at some point, the gas supply to make e85 won't be a viable source for fuel as it gets more scarce in the future.

what would you do??? find a way to transplant an electric motor or other power source for the new era? sell your mkiv? scrap the mkiv? turn it into a museum piece for your grandkiddos to ooohh and ahhh over in the garage?

for me, i can't say i would even try to get rid of the car if there was a severe gas shortage to the point that gas cars were becoming obsolete... likely the value would drop so much that it wouldnt be worth it... id probably keep it just because.

what about the rest?

would transplant to propane or natural gas i'm told natural gas is like 140 octane.
This is exactly what I was thinking.

We are not running low on gas....refineries are slowing the production to lower the supply, with an increased demand and that leads to higher prices which then makes happy CEO's.
yeah because the oil supplies haven't been slowed down by any recent natural disasters or recent oil spills have they. lol

a lot can lead to a drop in oil supply and production as well as increase in demand from foreign sources that we normally don't depend on.

but i am talkin in the future future, like 50 years in the future, when the population is 4x the size it is now, and there are so many people using fossil fuels that we actually find the bottom of the well.

^.........

Yes but it will be mighty expensive per gallon.

It would be foolish to continue on the path we currently are at in terms of gasoline consumption and more importantly our reliance on everything gasoline/petroleum based.

At 10 dollars a gallon people will still line up and buy gas just like they do. look at the respective price today vs what it was not long ago. I remember paying .75 cents a gallon... now its basically 4.00 plus... we are all sheep and will do what we are told... lol

Major Metropolitian cities run their turbo charged Metro buses on Natural Gas/Propane. So this would be the route I would consider, unless I could go in half on the Micro Fueler with another local supra owner :)
