hey guys sorry for the question if its really simple to find, but i really want your guys opinion. what different types of 2jz's are there? and what's the best one? I'm saving up a few grand, and i want to swap out my 7mgte for a 2jz, for more power capablity and more reliability.

You could find this info through searching just a little but basically....

GTE- Greatest engine ever made. 1.3mm (IIRC) head gasket and dished pistons for low compression(8.5:1)// oil sprayer bar to cool pistons
GE- the naturally aspirated version, same crank and rods as GTE, but thinner HG and different pistons.... which makes higher compression(9.6:1) to compensate for the lack of turbochargers
GTTE- Doesnt exist, unless you have parkinsons of epilepsy
VVTI- is variable intake cam timing, which you can certainly search for as it is too laborious to explain.

There are two basic types, GE and GTE, and both of those come in VVT-i versions. VVT-i is little better, but a lot more expensive. There's also Aristo, JDM and USDM versions of the engine. The USDM is better than JDM, but the differences are irrelevant if you're replacing the injectors, cams and turbos. It depends what your goals and budget are.

ok thanks for the info guys. my goal is to build a strong motor that will put out 450-500 HP with quick response and withstand hi rev stress from drifting. is the vvti worth the money?? i hear its Toyotas version of the v-tech. do you guys know, what would be too much money, to pay for a 2jz gte? vvti or not. and once again thanks for your help.
