Gonna get some new wheels in the not too distant future as soon as I take measurements using the manufacturer's wheel fitment template.

Ken.

Ken, I bet you touch the fender liner, because the wheels circumfrence is larger than OE

Suspension: BC Racing coilovers
Rubbing Yes/No: No for front. Slight rubbing at rear during hard cornering. (I might go to a smaller tire size.)
Crazy negative camber yes/no: No, slight camber due to drop in suspension height.

Front suspension was lowered 3 1/2 inches.
Rear suspension was lowered 2 1/2 inches.

Have something to add:
BC racing coilovers
18x9.5” +14 (235/40)
18x10.5” +14 (255/40)
Rolling the rears a bit more and will most likely raise the fronts a wee bit.

reviving old thread. Shopping for some wheels. I want to stay classy, period correct styling. functional over flashy.(but those red te37s tho)
1) 5zigen fn01r-c
2) SSR Comp C
3) Enkei RPF1 (now feels kind of played out but highest value IMO
4) Volk TE37 RT
5) Advan RG-D
6) Gram Lights 57CR

Im running koni yellow adjustables w/h&r race springs. I want to avoid fenderwork and keep my mk3s body unmolested.
I want to go staggered, but ultimately want the wheels to compliment the suspension mods. Im looking for a flush/damn near flush fitment but no hotboi stance,
Im visualizing that 17x9+35 / 17x10+40 or 17x8+30 / 17x9+30 would work. Colorways gold, red, white, bronze, gunmetal. I cant decide, my car is white.
Any input appreciated.

My 87T was on RPF1's and fitted flush enough (IMO) without fender rolling/mods. And I also didn't want to molest the fenders on this car. It has Eibach springs w/KYB struts.

Nice! That is just about the look I'm going for. Friends trying to sway me to go 18x9.5+35 255/35R18 front and 18x9.5+35 275/35r18 rear.
Unsprung weight is a concern. So is tire cost lol I want to run Michelin ps4 and jump from 17s to 18s is significant.

I think those wheel specs are good if you consider going with a square tire setup (and might save a little since you can rotate tires for more even wear). But get some strong lightweight wheels if unsprung weight is a concern.

Definitely going with wheels that are either flow formed or forged regardless of which wheel i go with. You think those 18s would work without rubbing/fender work? Also just verified tire circumference and its less than 1% change, so spedo/ tach virtually unaffected

I think the rear wheels will work without fender work - see Ken Henderson's car/specs on post #61.
But unsure about the 18x9.5+35 255/35R18 for the fronts - you might have to roll front fenders to avoid rubbing.
My 87NA is running 18x9 +32 with 265/35R18's (square setup) and I had to roll my front fenders to clear tires.

Anyone heard from this guy or have more pictures of this car? Advan RA3-DT is my dream wheel, debating between 17" or 18". They were only offered with 9.5" +19 for the 17s and 10" +19 for the 18s.

Hello Mr @OldBonus or anyone that can answer.
I'm looking at 245/40s on 17x9. The wheels I am interested in are lightweight and come in +10, +25, and +35.

I know +35 should fit based on some threads here, including this one.
But do you think +25 or +10 would fit in an 88 without modification? Looking at similar mods myself...just a set of springs with a mild ~1-1.5" drop with stock shocks.

@NARFALICIOUS I wouldn't go with a +10 offset, since it will most likely require fender work and adding negative camber to make the wheels fit. You might be able to get away with +25 in the rear without fender work, but the front will most likely need to roll fenders.
This is just my WAG.

Going from +35 to +10 would push the wheel out of the fender one inch.

Do you have any pics of this setup?
it sounds nice and spicy!

@NARFALICIOUS why 245? 255/40 matches factory tire height, is wider, and fits on 9" wide wheels.
My car is 17x9 +35 with 255/40. No fitment issues.

I'm wondering (hoping) if your setup has 10mm of extra room in the front. I picked up a set of 17x9 wheels but I decided to get +25 LOL and ordered 255/40/17s all around.
Hopefully I don't regret my decision and end up getting either two new wheels (17x9 +35) or two 245s for the front.

Anyways, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to run 245s in the front, right? I heard turn in is less responsive on wider tires, not that I'd be pushing this car anytime soon to be able to notice it.
The only thing I'd be hesitant to run 245 in front with 255 in rear is that 245/40 gives me less sidewall for the front and I'd like the extra cushion...whereas 245/45 makes the fronts overall diameter 0.7 taller than the rears and I'm not sure how that would look.

I'll post pics once I get the wheels and springs on.
