So i got suspension on my MKIV. But now the wheels are kinda hiding under the wheel wells. I was going to buy new wheels but then i realized that costs a lot, so i was thinking of getting wheel spacer to bring out the wheels a little.

2 questions:
1. Is this a totally bad idea? I dont really see why not..but i could be wrong.

2. Stock offset is 50 right? which spacers should i get . 5mm, 15mm, 20mm or 25mm

thanks.

LOL...a_hmz: Why do you say that its not a good choice? They make them for other high performance cars like bmw/audi ...
The reason i ask is that i haven't heard anything bad about the h&r track+ ones. I heard that they are acctaully pretty decent.
Just found this www.seatcupra.net/reviews.php?descrip=Spacers

I realize that i dont have enough information to make an informed decsion, that why im asking :) and i dont want to jump into anything..

Depending on how much width you need, I would also recommend wheel adapters. They attach to your existing hub, and provide there own bolts to attach the wheel. They would be the ideal choice if you need to go 19mm or greater.

Here are a couple of places that I have used on various cars, and they do great work.

Cuz I was sitting there, when my friend's wheel fell off.
And who are "they"?? also Which car manufacturer produce car with wheel spacer??

The wheel spacer is an aftermarket option for specific requirement.

and i said " it's is alright if u make sure u find a right spacer!"

Supra Sol: Im up in college park. If you see a guy tooling around in a red supra on rt1- its probably me. i have to see what size spacers i need to get before buying any, but i'll keep your offer in mind.
Where in MD are you from?

I am in the Rockville area. Let me know by email if you're interested, we can slap them on and see how they look, it'll take all of two seconds.

I have 25mm spacers with the stock 17" wheels. The wheels sit exactly in line with the side skirts on the car. Be carful to get wheel spacers with their own bolts - i.e. don't just use long bolts to go throught the spacers into the normal holes - the bolts won't take the strain. I've had my car like this for over 100,000km - no problems yet...

I had 3mm spacers on the front of my SRT and 3 studs broke on the highway going 80. Scarred the shit out of me. I just think it was shitty studs though (it is a neon afterall lol). I don't see how the spacers could've caused this because they are so thin.

I am definitly no expert just giving my expierence with them

If by installing the spacers the wheel is no longer hubcentric then they are a bad idea IMO.

H&R are hubcentric. H&R are probaly the BEST that you can get as far as spacers.

I wouldn't go any big then 5 mm. They are not safe at all if you plan on putting stress on your car. If your car is just a show car or and no racing then fine, but if you race it and have or plan on high hp then I would seriously just save for a good set of tires.

check out hpracing.com < I bought my tires from there. $1400 for a 18x8 and 18x9 WITH tires. They look sexy as hell (atleast everyone on here and my the 18t site thinks so. check them out here. http://supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323266

I've heard of wheels falling off and causing alot of damage with spacers. I had a wheel fall off because a shop didn't tighten down the lug bolts like they should have and it is NO fun. Imagine racing someone at 120mph and have a wheel pop off....chances are that you are not going to make it and your run-away tire might kil or seriously hurt someone else.
