Yes, I am just curious as to whether most people take that route(buy a new block from the dealer) or have them rebuilt with upgraded parts?

Is there a major cost difference and/or performance difference? I am looking to make the smart decision in getting the car back up and running.

Thanks,

A.

I have a used block and head from a 1997 TT, it needs 1 new piston (might as well replace all) and needs a little machine work...

But ill let it go for 700 obo

I'll wait to see how bad things are before I pop for $6.5K. I am expecting to pay about half that much. I'll let you know.

The toyota shortblock comes with a 1 year warranty. So you could buy a brand new one every year and still come out ahead! :D

Thanks for all of the thoughts guys. The car is in for a bore scope tonight and I will know the extent of the damage tomorrow. I will be out of town until Friday so I will update you then.
