Looks like Woon is in the #1 spot after second round. There will be no 3rd round of qualifying becuase of too many oil downs..

 :bigthumb: anybody know what dana (virtual works), jason (aem) and cody (wotm) ran? i think those were the only supras running if i'm not mistaken.

the D1 drift event was awesome and exciting to watch :) i think there were more crashes going "straight" in drag racing than there were drifting! :wtflol:

my old friend is a driver for falken and he said he was coming in the at around ~90mph!! he wasn't pushing it either in practice and said it still is pretty damn scary coming in
i'm sure some of the other cars were coming in close to a 100mph if not faster :)

Why do they have this event in the middle of July? It seems like it would make more sense to have it in April or October when it is a bit cooler out?

Dana wins round 2 of quick 16 to move on, running in the 9.3 range. Jason is out, unknown problems. My friend Brooks is out, for some illegal part (didn't know there were many rules for Q16).

Ryan takes the win in SRWD over Mark M., so it looks like it will be him and Julie for the final. Round 1 saw Ryan go 9.64 to Julie's 9.58 and they both had reaction times lower than .070. Looks like the makings of a good race!

Results for Elimination Round 1

LAS VEGAS - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Quick 16 at the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Fourth Annual Las Vegas NHRA Sport Compact Nationals:
W/L Driver Class Dial RT ET Speed

(W) Chad Zenner Q16 11.78 0.026 12.640 0.860
(L) Milton Roller Q16 10.75 NT-Broke After Staging

Roller broke on the line, he didn't move out of the beams before he was pushed back.
(W) Omar Gonzales Q16 12.09 0.024 11.944 -0.146
(L) Hubie Fuh Q16 11.02 0.194 12.321 1.301

Gonzales will face Zenner in round two.
(W) Pete Selders Q16 10.73 0.007 11.055 0.325
(L) Erica Nocita Q16 11.76 0.135 11.997 0.237

The two teammates face off - and the Turbo VW takes out one of the best in Quick 16. Pete Selders' MOV: 0.0408 seconds (approximately 7 feet).
(W) Mike Angel Q16 10.92 -0.068 11.343 0.423
(L) Alfred Rhee Q16 11.94 -9.999(R)NT-No Show

(W) Bok Mounlachack Q16 11.11 0.244 10.713 -0.397
(L) John Sauro Q16 12.11 0.062 12.117 0.007

(W) Brooks Davis Q16 11.88 0.015 12.015 0.135
(L) Karl Martin Q16 10.83 -0.009(R)10.035 -0.795

Karl is leading the points series in Salt Lake City, but he left too soon and is gone in the first round. UPSET!
(W) Mario Bermudez Q16 12.08 0.492 12.127 0.047
(L) Jason Siebeis Q16 11.01 -9.999(R)NT-No Show

Siebeis is a no-show... Mario's hatch came up when he left the starting line, it didn't seem to slow him down much.
(W) Dana Westover Q16 9.47 0.205 10.648 1.178
(L) Henry Wang Q16 11.35 0.030 15.149 3.799

Westover had just pulled past Wang when the motor belched out a lot of smoke out the pipe - the motor went silent and he was coasting at a much higher rate than Wang - too bad for Wang, he was having "issues" himself and had to watch Westover coast over the line ahead of him.

Results for Elimination Round 1

LAS VEGAS - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Sport RWD at the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Fourth Annual Las Vegas NHRA Sport Compact Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Ryan Woon ('98 Supra) 0.053 9.641 135.08
(L) Mark Mazurowski ('05 240SX) 0.252 10.149 124.37

Woon's Supra has tons of power, he started skating around at the top end and had his hands full of wild race car until he lifted off the loud pedal.
(W) Julie Stepan ('06 WRX) 0.060 9.598 145.96
(L) Dan Schechter ('93 RX7) 0.536 NT-Broke After Staging

Dan's burnout was short, but lots of tire smoke, it may have been too much for something in the drivetrain as he moved less than two feet off the line. Stepan will have lane choice in the final round.
