this has been bothering me big time.......why does everyone, (even hardcore 240 guys as far as i know) call SR20 (or CA18)equipped silvia/s13/240sx whatever mumbo jumbo theyre really called- the early hatch/fastback ones that everyone has after initial D and drifting got popular-why are they still called 240sx's!?......brings up another bothering question:why do I feel wrong to call those hatch/fastback ones S13, silvia, or even 180sx.....are they not!!!! give me a history lesson if you' like CLEAR my mind for once

You need to work on your writing skills... I don't know what the hell you're trying to say. :wtf:

They are called 240's because that's what Nissan named them for the states: 240SX. I don't know what else to say to your question.

240sx are 2.4L in the US as they try to name like Japanse market (ie 180sx as for 1.8L engine). Even after they swapped the engine, they are still using 240SX chasis , I don't see why they can't be called 240sx. Does your Supra going to change name to a Skyline if you put in a RB engine? lol

Stateside never had Silvias or RWD 200SX's (S13 coupe, S14, S15, the old skool S12s are different, I won't talk about them so I can avoid confusion), or 180SX's (S13 fastback) Those cars were all powered by either an SR20DET or SR20DE, with the exception of the 1800cc Silvia S13 and the 180SX (up until the early 90s) which had the CA18DET or CA18DE (Silvia S13 1800cc Q's). The stateside 200SX was the Nissan Sentra, which was FWD, and had an SR20DE.

I refer to a USDM 240 with a JDM engine as a "insert engine code here" powered 240SX. But that's me, and I'm the only one of me on this planet, so someone else is bound to say it differently.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I don't care what people call my car as long as it's not "Hey, that's a clean Ford Probe ya got there!"

^^ agreed. i call them "sr'd 240" or "rb powered". none of that "silvia/skyvia/sil-line/180sx" JDM-Tyteness crap.

so to answer your question... theyre still called 240sx's because theyre still 240sx's. a new engine doesnt change the fact that its a 240sx. if you dropped an LSx into an rx7, do you call the 7 a corvette?

Re: Re: why are non-2.4L KA 240's called 240's?

I beg to differ. The US got plenty of rwd 200sx. A na 4 cylinder, turbo 1.8 liter and a 3.0 na V6

I Think it's just because they are sold as 240's in the states.
And i don't think everybody will go taking a close at each car like "hey its a 180, not a 240"..

CA18DET & SR20DET's S13/s14(a)'s are called 200SX here in europe... (Got one myself).

It's a damn 240SX no matter what engine is in it. Why? Because that is what Nissan named it and that is what is on the title. Anyone who tries to copy Nissan Japans Sil80 theme is just a ricer IMO.

Read the post. I said I wasn't going to talk about the old Skool S12s. I mentioned them, but didn't delve into them.

They aren't all that different really. In fact since some of them have the turbo CA series, they might be considere more of a Silvia than a USA 240sx.

Saying things like "hows this for some grammar.....fuck you" makes you look like one of the Internet tuff (or tough) guys you say you have no time for, it also makes you look like a hypocrite and quite foolish.

I once had a Ford Festiva, which I swapped a 2.3L into. Since the 2.3 came in the pintos, which were replaced by the escorts, which had 1.9 liter motors I called my Festiva an RS200, which also had a 1.9 liter motor.

My point is this, all you evil people imposing draconian name restrictions on our automobiles should be banished to New Jersey.

:weed:
