why would we not believe they wont? Ive heard that a stock TT can go 12.9 with absolutely no mods at all. So im pretty sure a BPU supra will go 12's..

Hmm...i guess we have BPU for Mustangs too, the basic performance upgrades to get new stangs in the 12's would be.. Exhaust, CAI, Gears, Headers..maybe some home porting..and your going 12's.. so we too have Mustang BPU's going 12's. :D

You think that's bad, imagine the look on faces of people that don't know much about cars when I tell them I have intake, exhaust, downpipe & some electronics and managed 11's

A BPU Supra will run 12's on street tires. I bet the Mustang will need at least dragradials.

A stock 2001 Mustang GT will run around 14.0-14.2 in the quarter at around 98mph. I cant see a GT being able to run 12's with just headers, exhaust and gears. I have seen some supercharged GT's not able to hit 12's.

92 Mustang GT
GT40 Intake
E303 Cam
70mm Throttle Body
24lb injectors
MAC headers
2 1/2" Dynomax exhaust
3.73 gears
12.18 @ 111 on Radial Tires

92 Mustang GT (same car as above with new mods)
42lb injectors
Vortech S-trim S/C making 9psi boost
83m7m Mass Air
11.04 @ 126 on McCreary DR's

First setup is 1,624 dollars (ordering all those parts from Excessive Motorsports)

Second Setup is 5,034 considering its 3K for the S/C.

So it really isnt that hard to get into the 13's considering you can go 12's in an older mustang (a little lighter with less hp) for under 1,700 dollars.

I ran [email protected] with the stock cat-back. Only
~$450 in mods. DP, K+N Filter, pulled vsv hose. I was
on Nitto DR's but I run them 24/7. Can't turn 12's BPU?
Even with the stock tires, 93 octane and headlight in
I ran a [email protected] This was with a crappy 2.102
60' time stock cat-back and 17 lbs boost. Not sure what
they are talking about.

******MY94PONY,
These must be a "basic recipe" mod group because
no less than 3 of the local Mustangs have these exact
mods. You must be a far better driver though, because
the best any of the 3 have run is [email protected] Have
you done suspension mods? 12.18 with only 111 traps
on normal radials would put your 60' well below 1.7 sec.
That is some serious street tire hook-up.

the suspension work is Lakewood 90/10's in the front, 50/50's in the rear. The tires are McCreary *drag* radials. They are a very sticky street tire. I was at the owners house last night and saw one of his time slips..the exact times were..

1/4 - 12.227 @ 112.1
60' - 1.85 (McCreary DR's)
330' - 5.10 @ 72.2
660' - 7.83 @ 90.1
1000' - 10.21 @ 103.7

The mods are the same. The stock heads have been ported to hell with a set of 2.02/1.60 valves and 1.6 FM Roller rockers.

I am pretty sure I remember hearing that 96-98 (I think) GTs often ran 15s stock. Especially Auto Convertibles.........

if i remember correctly... MM&FF did some drag tests with a 98 GT and got it going high 14's.. and they also have taken the 99 GT into 13.40-13.80's stock.

12s=dp ($280), exhaust ($400-N1), bleeder T ($>1), intake ($150)=$850

***I DID IT*** [email protected] @1100 ft w/2.2 60 ftr street tires

as for the stangs, they seem to be over-rated. I have witnessed many running 15s and witnessed a S281 SUPER-CHARGED running low-mid 14s.

Chris,
Sounds alot like my numbers Sunday, [email protected],
but I started to spin the stock clutch when the track
started to hook. Are you running a stock clutch?
Congrats on the numbers.
Wayne
BTW, similar mods here. BCC, DP, Greddy SP, Bleeder Tee
and Nitto DR's.(Also pulled the headlight and 3 gal 114 fuel).

wayne

Hey wayne,
thanks for the congrats! Congrats to you too..
Actually, I have an rps clutch with a new flywheel that I put in this past summer. That thing holds great, I haven't had any issues and I have made a good amount of passes on it this year already.

get that clutch in there and make some mid 11 second passes :)

Cams, throttle body, gears, and injectors are not considered part of "BPU". BPU is a free hose mod, intake, and exhaust. Our engines go 12s and 11s @ BPU without touching the block.

The F-Body/Mustang is going to be cheaper to modify than a Supra. The Supra is a $40k car, the Mustang is a $20k car. Check prices on modifying Vipers and Corvettes (except for NOS). I don't think I need to state why this is, because we are all fairly smart here and should be able to figure it out.

My car went 12.8 @ 114mph without $1 in mods and could have gotten a much better ET had I not been at such a shitty track. Ron Tsan from Chicago went 11.9 @ 114mph with my mods plus a downpipe. So basically $300 in mods meant 11s for him.

Please save your breath on this arguement. Yes, a $5000 Foxbody 5.0 will be cheaper to modify than a Supra. That's fine. I'm not about to go out any but a mustang anytime soon, and neither is anyone on here. Some on here may like taking the cheap route, but there are plenty who don't care either. I paid premium dollar for a '97 TT w/ 11k miles when I could have bought a '93.5 w/ 100k for probably less than half. To some of us it doesn't matter.

Watch it there buddy...... I'm warning you because if you beat my BPU trap speed record of 121.50mph I'm gonna be really really pissed :) :) :) In all seriousness, those are killer numbers for BPU.... A few more tweaks and you'll own that record. If you haven't done so already, on your next trip to the track, swap in some new plugs and try to run 100% 101 unleaded.... this seem to work extremely well for me. For comparison, this is my run....

60' 2.028
330' 5.284
1/8 7.781
MPH 95.49
1000' 10.073
1/4 11.930
MPH 121.50

Good luck!
