There are 4 wires that come off the wiring harness near the starter (the two brown ones and two white ones)... are they supposed to be grounded?

Pics not working for me either. If you're looking at one big harness with 4 wires it's something for the auto tranny. If it's two harnesses you're looking at the ABS speed sensor harness and the reverse light harness.

The only wires that are supposed to be grounded are obvious ground wires. They have a ring crimped on the end of them for where a bolt is supposed to hold them.

From your pic's, IIRC... I've got those all bolted together on the intake plenum. There should be a flat spot between #3/4 near the lower intake/plenum that you should bolt them too.
