Just wondering if its really worth the upgrade if I already have a 3inch DP?
The HKS is kinda flaky. Little bottleneck where the Up pipe meets the flex pipe. And that damn stock 02 housing.

Just wondering if a real difference will be made by dropping that 02 housing and getting rid of that bottleneck?
Other option is to get like a JBL or BIC 02 housing?

Thoughts? Comments? Opinions.

The HK$ is not a true FULL 3" DP. The flex section is only 2.5. Randy's DDP is FULL 3" mandrel and with the wastegate separated from the exhaust flow it reduces turbulance in the exhaust which speeds up exhaust flow. I dont know what kinda of gains you are to find in them but I've heard they are huge.

The gains felt from changing the turbo elbow alone will be significant. Buying a whole new downpipe may get you a little more power, but it will cost more. If you want to spend more money to get a little more out of the stock turbo then you will be happy with the BIC downpipe.

see thats the other thhing to think about. How long I will have this turbo. I would love to do like an SP upgrade eventually, but will prob do a CT upgrade soon for shits and giggles. I deff think that 02 housing is a huge bottleneck. So i would love to see that go, BUt the whole DDP would be nice too. I just dont wanna spend all this money and not really feel much of a diff. I am prob gonna get an SAFC this week too so I can tune her a little.

When I switched my downpipe form the HKS(with the stock elbow) to the BIC downpipe with a built in 3 inch elbow, I could honestly feel no difference. I'm sure there were gains since the wastegate now bleeds off into a nice big area where it can blend easily with the turbine gasses. I just couldn't feel it. If your going for big horsepower, I would definantly upgrade.

From my experience: Upgrading from stock downpipe to HKS was a huge difference. Upgrading from HKS to BIC was more of a good peice of mind knowing my turbo is flowing better.

When I upgraded from the HKS DP to a full 3" option (no DDP back then) I noticed a MAJOR difference. Getting rid of the stock elbow and having a true 3" pipe will make a big difference. Now you will probably also notice a pretty big difference too if now you have a cat at the end of your HKS and get rid of it. That will make a big difference also. I was very impressed at the difference it made on my car. This was on stock turbo at 15psi back then.

when i went from the stock o2 housing and true 3" downpipe to the 3" downpipe/elbow that BIC sells(also no DDP option when i got it), it made a large difference. the car felt smoother and it opened up some power at higher RPM.

with my car, i had a the standard 3" BIC dp/elbow, stock cat, HKS superdragger catback, AMS metal IC pipes, K&N FIPK, stock boost

i made 245rwhp and 251rwtq

If you can't physically feel the performance difference between a stock 2.5" elbow, 3" integrated elbow and the DDP you are obviously not running beside a comparable car. Try to run with someone who has the DDP and who doesn't. I can pretty well gaurantee you the guy with the 2.5" elbow will be happy he saved the money and bought some binoculars to see the other guys car jumpimg ahead of him and his tail lights disappearing in to the horizon..lol..

monster diffs between the stock elbow + HK$ DP and a true 3" DP. most definately worth it.

don't forget the gains in ground clearance too- the HK$ DP hangs WAY too low.
Yea that is one thing I hate about my HKS too Hangs too fucking low.
Does BIC usually stock these things, or are the made to order when ordered?

Definately go with the BIC DDP. So loud, car pulls like a raped ape. Im telling you, its worth it.

BIC is very good about customer service. He makes em to order, I got mine in about a week and a half. Very good quality, you will not be disappointed.
