Hey guys!

I am a newbie on this forum and in need of some help!

My friend has transplanted a 1fz-fe from an LC100 into his Nissan Safari/Patrol Y60. His car was originally a 4.2 non turbo diesel and he is using his old gearbox, diffs and Tcase.

The problem is that his car doesnt go over 140KPH @3000 rpms. It just gets to 140 and then stops right there.

It does go well over 3000 rpms when he revs it from idle.

He got it checked from a few local incompetent mechanics but no one seems to get it.

Can anyone help us out with this? Has anyone else experienced it as well?

Cheers!

You're asking for help regarding a LandCruiser engine that your friend put in a Nissan Patrol on Supraforums??

Obviously false, otherwise you wouldn't have bothered to posted this.

Yes thats cuz its a swap related question and I know that 1FZ is a popular engine amongst supra owners. So they can face the same problem too!
If by popular you mean ONE person having done it that's documented somewhere (I think) in Russia... sure. I'm not arguing with you... your best bet would most likely be to post on the LandCruiser boards to get the specific answers you're looking for.

Generally speaking the not revving above 3000rpm could be caused by a TPS being out of alignment or defective. I'm sure one of many possibilities. Is this a OBD1 or OBD2 engine/harness/ECU setup? Either ways... I'd try to get the ECU scanned to see what codes its throwing if any and go from there.

If its a JDM motor, you will have a speed cut.
Normal JDM speed cut is 180KPH so for a bigger car I would expect 140 easily.
A speed cut device like the Greddy speed cut defencer could work... Just a thought.
