Hello Ive Searched forever For a Good 2jz Swap for the 89+ supra and only found one decent thread in supramania so I Figure I would post mine to be a good sourcing for anyone else out their. This Is Just for a BASIC 2jz Swap Nothing fancy.
(Decided VVTI IS NOT THE WAY TO GO!).

Leaveing this thread alone,Going to build the 7m. don't go vvti unless you plan on staying under the 500hp range.
It is less hassle and cheaper for a non 2jz for 600+hp.. B IMHO I believe the VVT-I Is a better Motor for low to mid hp builds.
And ALSO All this Crap about a vvti being Weaker IS BS. They are the Exact same Engines internally same part numbers and everything.
the wiring harnesses are different and the intake cam/sensor and more things but for the most part Its the same motor. Not weaker nor stronger. just newer and more variables for improvement. I also hear their smoother powerbands :)

VVT-I Differences and Thread

Most of these parts Are Driftmotion <-click from Aaron and or you could source them here on the forums or Ebay<-click.

so far Ive seen the VVTI being even more of a hassle.. The Aristo VVTI Ecus have keys almost always Ive seen and If it does It will not want to work easily unless flashed, you have to have a MAF which I dont know if they always come with the swaps, And the Rear sump... a flash cost 180 ish mafs are like 250 and the 510 sump. thats like 800$ more just for the VVTI but I hear their Great For most whp goals under 6-700..easy without crazy expensive modifying
im only looking for 450+ as a start. I hear they Feel Better Than the non vvtis they have more Low End torque and get you into boost smoother and faster their more Level powered dunno about dyno numbers yet.
If the Budget Allows For a Standalone off the bat then hell yea perfect engine... im just trying to get a stock running 2j in my car for now.. dunno if i 2k to spare for standalone system/parts

Anyone else want to chime in Ideas? easier to go non vvti?

I sent you a pretty detailed PM ... VVT-i is not the hassle you think it is once you are armed with the knowledge.

The n/a VVT-i MAF from a GS300/IS300 is compatible (and can be had for cheap in a bone yard) if your set doesn't come with a MAF.

An option for the pan swap if you get an Aristo motor set, is to find a SC300 blown motor or wreck in a junkyard ... it will be much cheaper than buying new from Toyota, or find someone that bought a rear sump motor that putting one into an IS300/GS300 or a Cressida! That's how I got my rear sump is I got it from someone that dropped a 1JZ Supra 5spd set into a MX83 Cressida .... Deals are out there every day ... just got to talk to people and you'll find what you need.

I explained the ECU 'key' issue in the PM, most don't have the security lockout ... (I haven't met anyone personally that has swapped the VVTi that has run into this issue), but I have heard this same story too, just no one personally I know of.
