ok, viperlocc's car was running great until we put in the new autolite copper spark plugs...and thats all we did.
it only happens on half to full boost. you can feel it and hear it backfire. not really misfire like it arcing through the boot but it backfires now.
get me wrong but isnt backfire mean your running rich? if so, then why is it on this. we have stock injectors, lexus AFM with K&N filter, Spearco intercooler, downpipe and exhaust, and 255lph walbro fuel pump....
why does it backfire now and not before on the platinum spark plugs?

well we didnt have a gapper with us and the last ones were gapped properly...the new ones were pretty much the same size...we used a piece of metal to stick in between the two points and there was just barely a size difference...but i was told to gap now at .031 cause of higher boost application...
we'll do that in the morning, got a gapper now, and post how it does...

While you're in there, check the spark plug wires and connections, preferably with an ohmmeter.

Sometimes the wires break internally and cause all kinds of problems, that are hard to trace.

If the wire clips that attach to the plugs are loose, tighten them down with pliers, to make a better connection.

I been having the same problem, same setup except im running a vpc, walbro 255lph stock injectors, when i jump on it sometimes i get miss pops, rich backfires of black smoke.

My timing is perfect, champion coppers gapped to .26

I talked to some people about the subject, and what came up was the wires/clips for the coil packs, anf igniter,if they have a bad connection it will do it

in your situation, it certainly sounds like a misfire, but just an answer to one of your questions, and for future reference for people reading this thread, i have read about _lean_ mixtures causing exhaust backfires. i don't really understand the dynamics of combustion very well and was confused about this earlier, but i think the cause here is the excess oxygen from the lean burn helps combustion out the exhaust. this combines with the fact that lean combustion is not always complete combustion, and in fact is generally less complete than a richer burn. most lean-burn engines have attention paid to swirl and proper timing so the mixture's actually well mixed and combusts completely.
