Just curious, what's the purpose of the little black filter fittings for vacuum on the intake manifold?

I bet you are referring to the evap / charcoal fittings. There is one with a little 90* box directly out the rear of the intake plenum. There’s also a VSV that’s near where the stock MAP sensor is on the intake. Depending on how your swap was wired, all that evap stuff may or may not work.
I believe that’s a one way check valve for the intake plenum pass-thru that draws vacuum from charcoal canister.
